Mary F. Hutchinson
directs
all aspects of GIS project management, geospatial
analyses, training and technical support. She has
30 years of professional experience in the GIS, planning
and mapping industries, both in the United States
and Australia. She is also certified as a GIS
Professional (GISP) by the
GIS Certification Institute.
Ms.
Hutchinson earned a Masters in Community Planning
(MCP) from the University of Rhode Island and received
the American Institute of Certified Planner’s
(AICP) Outstanding Student Award. Undergraduate studies
were at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology,
Victoria, Australia where she earned the Bachelor
Applied Science (Cartography).
Ms.
Hutchinson is a member of the American Planning Association
(APA), the North
East ARC Users Group (NEARC and the Mapping Sciences
Institute of Australia (MSIA). Hutchinson is also
an elected member of the RIGIS
Executive Committee, as well as Interim Treasurer
of the North East
Chapter of URISA (NEURISA).
As
Planner and GIS Professional, Mary Hutchinson has
been an active supporter of open space preservation
efforts in Newport County and Rhode Island; serving
as President of the Conanicut
Island Land Trust, Director of the Aquidneck
Land Trust, the
Rhode Island Land Trust Council, and Vice-Chairman,
Jamestown Conservation Commission.
Mary
Hutchinson's planning work has also received awards
from the American Institute of Certified Planners
(AICP) and American Planning Association (APA). Many
of Hutchinson's maps have also received awards, been
published as limited editions, or in award-winning
publications, both in
the United States and in Australia.
